Good morning, Grizzlies!
Today is Wednesday, January 27th, 2015
Yesterday, I explained that today we would be in the shop. We are working on our motor. We are not violating the guidelines by anyway. We are strictly following the rules and finding way we can improve our car. I think that we had some great ideas on how to improve our car. We have tried to many things to make our car go faster. We have changed our nosecone, but we realized when we did that, that it doesn't matter because Challenger car's nose cone was curved to resemble the beak of an Eagle. Our nosecone that we used for the last race cut through the air and was very sharp. We thought that we could improve our speed by changing it. We test many of our improvements! For example, we tested our batteries voltage by using a volt meter and we tested our nosecone by bumping into stuff. We tested the accuracy of our improvements by doing certain tests. Many of our improvements have worked as well.
We have a new event! Not only is our race coming up, but we have another spirit night! Yay! The spirit night will be located at the Chick-Fil-A by Wal-Mart and Game Stop. The date and time is  Tuesday,March 1st,2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M .  We hope you guys come! We love providing our devotees with food and intriguing them to become interested in what we are doing. We hand our flyers to the customers as they walk in. When they use the flyer, a certain percentage goes to the school and our team. We always try to find efficient ways we can make money.  Spirit nights are easy to run and beneficial. We enjoy seeing lovely people from our school and people who are interested in our program. We really hope you decide to come! You have lots of time to plan! Plus, if you ordered a calendar, this is a great way of using it!.  Please try to come!

                                                                                                                                                                         With more to come,
                                                                                                                                                                                Carlee from Green Grizzlies

Day 70

Good morning, Grizzlies!
Today is Tuesday, January 26, 2016.
Once again, we are practicing our presentation.  We are mainly focusing on transitions. A transition is when you are about to change to the next slide and you are introducing the next slide and the person presenting it. We are really focusing on this because it signals the person controlling the slides and the person after you. It makes the whole presentation run faster and smoother. I think if everyone practices it, they will remember it. For example, my signal to start to present is when Connor introduces me. My transition is to introduce Lindsey. She will know when to present her slide when I say “And now Lindsey concluding our presentation.” It signals her to start presenting her slide and tells Julien when to change to the next slide. The whole “transition” system works out and ties the whole presentation together.
Speaking upon another topic, we will be in the shop tomorrow. We have someone coming to do something along the lines without motor. We are super pumped and ready for tomorrow. When we put new things on our car, usually they are there to improve speed or distance. I think it is great along the lines that we add new things. It’s always good to try.
Also this week, we have a half day on Friday. We had one last week, due to the snow. Due to the classes being cut to twenty minutes, we won’t have time to present or to update the blog. Therefore, the blog will not be updated Friday. We will pick up back on track Monday as planned and hopefully everything will run smoothly. Instead of presenting and blogging, we will be updating our pictures for our “Meet the Team”. For anyone who reads the blog and you are from the Green Grizzlies team, remember WEAR YOUR POLO AND KHAKIS! Please do not forget to wear your polo and khakis! It’s very important that you remember because we want to look nice for our pictures. I will post reminders for the rest of the week. I believe someone will post it on Edmodo on Thursday. I think that everyone will remember.
I am making more blog updates as well. As you know, almost every recent slide has a quote on it. Close to holidays, I put kid-friendly jokes on the post. I only do it if the holiday is not about a person. For example, I did not put any jokes for Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Day because that would be highly offensive to not only myself, but other people. The jokes are supposed to be cheesy and intended for a younger audience because we young adults on the Green Grizzlies team.
Back on to the subject, Valentine’s Day is the next holiday and I might start on this post with a valentines joke. It depends on if I have enough jokes to last until the 12th because the 14th is on Sunday. Someone pitched an idea about how I should write during the race. It would be great. I could write it on a word document and update it when I got an internet signal. I think it is a great idea! You could have an update of the race and have it to read over and over again. It will be great and I will look forward to doing it! I cannot wait to write another blog.
                                                                                                                                                                                         With more to come,
                                                                                                                                                                                      Carlee from Green Grizzlies

 Good morning, Grizzlies!
Today is Monday, January 25, 2016.
As you know last week, we were practicing our presentation that we will be presenting for the judges the day before the race. It’s great! We are working on adjusting some things that are problems in presenting. One of those problems were saying so, uh, and um way too much. Using these words are unprofessional and we must make sure resist from saying these words. There are many words that you can use for transcending into another topic on your slide/part. We are learning this dexterity for our own futures and presentation for the judges. Hopefully, our resistance to say those words will impress the judges and we will get a much higher grade than our fall race. Our presentation consists of parts for all of our team because the judges said we need more participation. Therefore, this year we will hopefully get a higher score due to correcting our mistakes.
I am representing the blog because I am the blogger and last year, Nathan, our webmaster, represented the slide. I had to overcome my shyness and just go with it. Another thing that we need to correct is reading directly from the screen. The information that is presented on the screen, they can read. Therefore you do not need to read it to them. That is one of the strategies that goes along with answering questions as well. You do not know what questions they will have prepared to ask your team. Because of this, you have to gather your own information and discuss what the slide is about. This will help you in the future because you have to be prepared to answer questions on spot.
After the recent practice, we only said so, twice and uh, once. We are improving a lot with the progression of this presentation. I am super proud of this team because we have overcame a lot and gotten so far. We aren’t worried about victory, but we are worried about cooperation and hard work. The point of that you tried is important to not only to yourself, but the whole team. Victory doesn’t hold anything, but a title. The story is the hard-work and cooperation. It’s what you did to attempt to gain that victory. As a famous person has once said, “Don’t judge a book by its cover”.  People might win the title of victory, but did they experience the thrill of hard-work and team work?  They are seen as winners and that’s all. All of the rest of the people are seen as losers, even though they tried harder than the winners.
Trying hard is all that matters. I have seen our competitors at races and seen our group as well. We haven’t won 1st place yet, but who says that this is where the story ends? You can try and succeed or don’t try and fail. It depends on your decisions and view. You are thinking, why are they discussing this? This ties into everything we have learned in this group and being a team. You must try and try until you can try no more. You decisions are a huge impact on not only yourself, but everyone else.
                                                                                                                                                                   With more to come,
                                                                                                                                                                             Carlee from Green Grizzlies

Good morning, Grizzlies!
Today is Tuesday, January 19th, 2015.
We are continuing from where we stopped on Friday. On Friday, we were practicing our presentation. So far, everything is great! No one is hesitating on presenting! I knew if everyone just practiced that they would have their part down and ready to go. Many aspects of presenting are difficult. It takes dexterity to be able to memorize your part and signal yourself to know when to say it.  I think presenting is frightening to some people in the class because they are shy and do not like talking in front of crowds. It's normal! It just takes time to get over the nervousness and shyness.
By the time we have to present to the judges, we will be ready to go! We will do great! I cannot wait until we present in front of the judges. Besides presenting, we are working on finishing up and revising over our resumes and cover letters. It's so important that we practice this aspect because we will use it in our future! There is nothing more important than being at a job interview and having your resume/cover letter.

There is not much to discuss today with you guys! Have a wonderful day and come back tomorrow!

I believe we still have calendars! If we do and you would like to purchase one or more, please find a Greenpower student and/or mentor and we will apply all the help we can provide for your desire purchase.

                                                                                                                                                                    With more to come,
                                                                                                                                                                           Carlee from Green Grizzlies

 Good morning, Grizzlies!
Today is Friday,January 15th, 2015.
It's a rainy day and we are in the classroom! We have a 3 day weekend, therefore we will not be back until Tuesday, January 19th,2015. We were finishing our cover letters and resumes. I think that we are almost finished, which is good. I think that it's great that our mentor, Ms. Amos, had us write cover letters and resumes.  It proves that Greenpower really does prepare us for our future. So, thank you, Ms. Amos!

We are presenting right at this moment! We are presenting for our mentor and seeing what she thinks. Hopefully, everything will go great. I think that everybody has overcame their nervousness. I know I have overcame mine! Piano and guitar help me overcome my nervousness of presenting. I think if people on the team are still nervous that they should practice presenting in their free time, so they aren't so nervous. They might can try playing an instrument too! The power-point is looking very great! I am impressed! Even our last power-point for the fall race looked great! We have improved so much! I am so proud! We have never lost hope in ourselves! Keep it up, Green Grizzlies!

If you are having problems with being nervous about presenting, you should try practicing or going into something that you present a lot in.
                                                                                                                                                                          With more to come,
                                                                                                                                                                                 Carlee from Green Grizzlies

Good morning, Grizzlies!
Today, we are watching videos on public speaking and presenting. We are also going to practice presenting and split into groups to discuss questions that the judges might ask at the presentation. Today is a very important day! The videos will help because they discuss some of the things we need improvements on in our public speaking. We have learned that we should apply stories to the situations. We also need to maintain eye contact with our audience. I think it's very important that we practice these skills because we want the best for ourselves and the presentation. We shouldn't care about ourselves during the presentation , but gestures and eye contact are important. What I mean about not caring that much about ourselves is that our presentation is the main thing they should be focusing on. We shouldn't get nervous about apologizing or messing up. Everyone makes mistakes and its natural to make mistakes.
We cannot let out nervousness get the best of us and overcome us. We have to conquer it and focus on how good our presentation will be. The important thing that matters is that we are speaking and participating in the presentation. Eye contact will be a huge factor that plays into our presentation. Eye contact with our audience shows honestly, trustworthy, and focus. It shows that we are focused on the audience paying attention. Our facial gestures show how the audience should react to what we are saying.  In the video, it discussed on how we shouldn't be telling a tragic accident with a smile on our face. It would make the audience be confused on how to feel about the situation. We are split into our groups and we are rehearsing on what we are going to say and do in the presentation. I really hope that we have great practices and do not get nervous. I wish us the best to come.

                                                                                                                                                           With more to come,
                                                                                                                                                                     Carlee from

Good morning, Grizzlies!
We are in the classroom today!  We are basically doing what we did yesterday and the day before. The reason why we are still doing  the same things are because everything has to be in order and correct. If they are not in order and correct, then we have to restart and that is going to take a whole lot more time to finish.  That being said,  we have to get it together and get everything done.

                                                                                       What Are We Doing Today?
Today, we are all individually doing our jobs and getting them completed. Lindsey, JD, and Pete are finishing the power-point. I believe that the only thing they have to do on the power-point is add more pictures and revise it. John, Will, and Thomas are giving people their jobs during the race and creating rules for the race. We defiantly need rules for this race. It's always good to have rules, so we can prevent future events occurring. Kehinde and Connor have finished doing the data sheets and they are posted to our Edmodo, I believe.  That being said, we are on track!  Jake has finished copying all of the friendly letters on to one document. Julien is still copying his finished business letters on to one document.  Manigan, Nathan, and JB are making a list of the materials we need for our design. They are thinking about using spray foam. I do not much about it ( due to me being in outreach), but when I hear more about it, I will make sure to tell you guys. Marsden is still doing his addressed business envelopes and hopefully will have them done by the end of the period. Tyler has finished all the addressed friendly envelopes.  Lastly, I am doing the blog, so you guys can know what we are up to!

We hope to finish all the uncompleted work by today! We hope you guys have a lovely Thursday and come back tomorrow!
                                                                                                                                                                            With more to come,
                                                                                                                                                                                   Carlee from Green Grizzlies

Happy 2016, Grizzlies!!
Sorry for the delay of the blog. We couldn't log on yesterday and it may be because Weebly was under maintenance or something like that.  Now, we are back and starting the new year off with a clean slate!

                                                                                        What Are We Doing Today?
The main question that you must being dying to know the answer to is, what are we doing today? Everyone has separate jobs! I will list them by names and tell why they are exactly important. I know it may seem like I do this every time I write a blog and I do try to change it up. Change is great and wonderful, but there are things that you can't change for the importance of the information.  Lindsey, JD, and Pete are finishing and finalizing our power-point. We need the power-point finished because we have to practice over the what our parts are and make sure it is perfect. As we know from our past, practice makes perfect. I can only imagine how great our power-point looks so far and I cannot wait to see the finalized version of it. John, Will, and Thomas are analyzing our pit crew and reassigning tasks to our crew. I think this is very important because we all need to know our jobs. To know our jobs, you must know where you are strong at and where you stand at in the circumstance of the race.
Manigan, JB, and Nathan are working in the aerodynamics part of the team. They are finishing the design that has annotations and making a list of materials needed for the design. It's important that we have this done soon because we need to have time ti make adjustments and raise money to get the materials.  Julien is copying all the business letters and putting them into one document. It's important for him to do this because we need have all of our business letters together, so we can print them. Jake is copying all of the friendly letters and putting them on to one document. He is doing this so all of the friendly letters are all together. Kehinde and Connor are doing data sheets. I don't exactly know what they are doing this for, but it's still important because the sheets consists of our data that we need to compare to our next race.  Tyler is copying all of the finished friendly envelopes and putting them on to one document. He is doing this because they need to all be together, so they can be printed. Marsden is copying all of the finished business addresses and putting them on to one document. They need to be together to be printed. Last but certainly not least, I am doing the blog. It's important that I do the blog because it lists the things we do on a day to day basis.

Since Martin Luther King , Jr's Day is coming up, I will be adding quotes from him. I think it's very wise that we honor him up until the holiday. We will be out on the holiday anyhow!
                                                                                                                                                     With more to come,
                                                                                                                                                                  Carlee from Green Grizzlies
