Good morning, Grizzlies! Today is the last day for the blog until next year! We are not going to be able to post another blog because we have a poetry slam event at our school. We will be in our English teacher's room until 12:30 and that is past our Greenpower period. I will not be able to post over the holidays because of family coming into town and it being Christmas. Plus, we would not be in school or doing anything in Greenpower. So, it's idealistic that we do not post until we come back from winter break. Over winter break, I will be working on coming up with ideas for the blog and ways to make money before our next race. Our next race is April 23rd, 2016! We cannot hardly wait and the excitement is almost too much to handle. We were so excited for our last race and now we have another one! Back onto topic, I will post my ideas after I get back from break and hopefully, you enjoy them. I hope that the ideas are good, but who knows what I will come up with? We are doing the same thing we have done all week. Editing the power-point, business letters, design, and blog is all that we do this week. We hope to do more when we get back, but it's still a lot we have got done. There really isn't much to mention in this blog that i didn't mention previously this week. I do not want to repeat anything because if you wanted to read or see it again, you could always go back to it. We have accomplished a lot this week and continue to make everyday a better day. We have had a really good week for brainstorming and coming up with ideas. I think we all will think of more ideas over the break. Due to our hard work this week, I think I will post a holiday joke and a quote! Joke of the day: Q: What does Jack Frost like most about school? A: Snow and Tell! Happy Holidays! Good Morning, Grizzlies!
Today, I thought we would do something a little different. For the past two days, we have been doing the same exact thing. Today, we are still doing the same thing. To mix it up, I thought I would discuss our strengths, improvements, and much more. Strengths For our team , I think our biggest strength is communication and outreach. We know the basics of asking, approaching, and seeking sponsorship. Our leader for outreach, Lindsey, is very brilliant with her skills of sponsorship. She helps us get what we need and comes up with great ideas for making money. The reason why we can't do most ideas we come up with is because some of the ideas violate the school rules. We do not want to get in the way of the school's rules. Therefore, we have to think logically about the ideas. Some of the ideas were to do a snack cart and have a car wash. Those were great ideas, but we have to plan it out and ask the principal for permission. Every once in a while, we have ideas we come up with and we make a presentation. With that presentation, we would present it to a person of authority( vice or head principal). They would give us their opinion about and tell us whether we can or cannot do the idea. We can not overrule her and go around her back and do it. We use our communication skills to get permission and spill our great ideas. So, thank you to Lindsey and everyone who helps us raise money. We appreciate everyone who has bought calendars from us. Your kind donation to our team is what makes us able to make improvement! Improvements I think we have been discussing changing a few things and adding a few things. The design team has been working on trying to find a wind tunnel to design improvements. I think we adding a back flap and fixing a few things. The back flap is important because it will protect our batteries and motor if it rains. Therefore, it's highly important. I think that is all they are improving that I know of. If I hear anymore things, I will tell you guys on the next blog or I will update this blog. Thank you guys for being so modest and patient about improving things on our car, It means a lot to us! Joke of the Day: Q: What did the gingerbread man put on his bed? A: A Cookie Sheet! With more to come, Carlee from Green Grizzlies Good Morning, Grizzlies! Today, we are in our 4 groups again: power-point, business letters, blog, and design. POWER-POINT In this group, we are still editing the main power-point. We are adding paw bullet points and more of the notes we took during the presentations. I think they took appropriate notes and are adding the important to our presentation. We are discussing future fundraisers at the moment. I think it's important we discuss this before adding it to the presentation because we want everyone's thought on it. They are still working on listing our sponsors on the slideshow. We want to give them the credentials they deserve! Business Letters In this group, we are working on business letters. We are editing them and addressing them correctly, so they can be sent to the correct place. The ideal business letter consists of a body, sign off, date, and heading. The envelope is addressed with a return address( name/company, address, city, state, and zip code) and send address(name/company, address, city, state, and zip code). So, it's very important that we have the correct addresses on there. We are sending many to family/friends and companies that has someone we know work there. Blog In this group, we are working on writing the blog! Since the group only consists of the blogger(Carlee), she is working on getting the blog to you guys and making sure it's perfect. It takes a lot of time and consideration tot write the blog. Many think that it's a person typing a bunch of stuff, but it's so much more than that. I have to observe my surroundings and notice what is actually going on. Then, I have to organize it in a certain way that you are able to read it. I enjoy writing for you guys and imputing a update almost everyday! I will hate to have to leave next year! I enjoy writing it! Design In this group, they are trying to find a wind tunnel to use to design some of our car improvements. I think it's a great way to make improvements without changing anything and being able to go back if we mess up. Like I said yesterday, it's okay to make mistakes. Hopefully, this group finds a wind tunnel to use and start designing our improvements. That is all that this group is doing today! Hopefully, they will find one by tomorrow. Also, they are trying to decide a material to use as well. Let's hope it gets sorted out! Joke of the day: Q: What happened when the snow woman got mad at the snowman? A: She gave him the cold shoulder! With more to come, Carlee from Green Grizzlies "When you put the helmet on, it doesn't matter if you are woman or man: your mission is to compete to win. Good morning, Green Grizzlies!
Today, we are in 4 groups in the classroom. The groups are: power-point, business letters, blog, and design. Power-point In this group, we are editing our main power-point. After separating into partners and creating presentations, we took notes and our improving our main power-point. We are improving the power-point because it's important that we have an proficient presentation. Our presentation reflects our school and our Greenpower team. I think our score for our presentation in the 2015 fall race was great, but there is always room for improving. It's great to always improve and do your best. Making corrections to our mistakes and actually trying is how we learn. Greenpower is about learning from your mistakes. If you're always correct and never make mistakes, then you really aren't learning. With that being said, it's okay to make mistakes! We just want the best for our grade and reflections of our team. Business Letters In this group, we are editing the business letters that we are mailing out to potential sponsors. It's very important that our grammar and the address is correct. If not, it will not get into their designated location and the person and/or company would not understand what we are asking for. We do not want our business letters speaking the wrong message to our potential sponsors. That being said, grammar is very important to the letters. I think that this is a great way to approach sponsors and attempt to make money for our car. Design In this group, we are using wind-tunnels to design our car. We are trying to see what improvements we can make to our car. Design cannot function without outreach because you have to make the money for the improvements. We have many ideas for improvements! We will announce them soon! That is all for the design team today! Blog In this group, I am writing the blog for you guys! You wouldn't know what was going on with out the blog! I enjoy writing the blog almost everyday and tell you guys about what is going on. With that being said, do you know what is in 11 days? CHRISTMAS! Here is your Christmas joke of the day: Q:Which of Santa's reindeer have bad behavior? A: Rude-olph! With more to come, Carlee from Green Grizzlies Good morning, Grizzlies! Today, we are discussing our notes that we all gathered during presentations. Using the notes we took, we are talking about if we want to add certain those notes and what we thought we might need on their. We are very limited on space in our pamphlet and adding things to the main power-point. Some of us think we should add certain things and some of use have other opinions. We are all trying to make decisions as a group. We are using our cooperation skills on deciding if we need to get rid of certain things or add things. I think this is a great way to discuss and plan for the future. In the mean time, we are focusing on improving our presentation. Calendars! We are helping the younger Greenpower participants sell calendars. They are Chic-Fil-A calendars and included coupons for each month. I think it's a great way to make money for our car and team. It allows us to make improvements to our car with the money that we make. We are stoked to be selling them and if you are interested in buying one or more, they are $10 EACH. They are worth your money! I think we will make a lot of money by selling these amazing and adorable calendars. The power-points that we made as partners turned out really great and no one hesitated! I think we established most of the information we needed for the main presentation. Lindsey and I's power-point included how females and males have an equal opportunity in STEM program and how it's cross curriculum. We also included how Greenpower helps us for our future, but not only for engineering jobs. I also like how someone's power-point listed our strengths and weaknesses. I liked how mainly everyone stuck to what we put on our main slideshow for our presentation for the race. I think it shows that we were focusing on the last power-point that we did. After working very hard on our power-points, we deserve a Christmas joke today. JOKE OF THE DAY: Q: What does a cat on the beach have in common with Santa Claus? A: Sandy Claws. With more to come, Carlee from Green Grizzlies "It doesn't matter if you're a woman or a man, the important things is your determination ." Milka Duno Good morning, Grizzlies!
Sorry for our slight absence on blog. We are working on presenting and creating Power points for practice. There's a lot going on this week that we carried on from last week. Break is coming up soon and benchmark is just around the corner. We are getting busier than bee as the holidays come closer, but we are trying our best to get everything done nicely. We actually found out a date for our next race! It will be on April 23rd, 2016. After Christmas break, I will begin a countdown for our race date. As you didn't know, our presentations that we are creating have to be at least 7 minutes long. We are practicing a lot to make sure everything sails smoothly. Practice makes perfect! There's not much I can write about for today, but I can elaborate on when, why, where, what, who, and how about our situation. When are we doing the presentations? This week! Why are we doing this? To practice for presenting for next race. We want to get a better grade. What are we doing? We are making a PowerPoint with partners to practice with all of our members in participating. Where are doing this? In our classroom, of course! Who is doing this? GREEN GRIZZLIES! How are we doing this? We are doing this by getting in partners and using PowerPoint to create a presentation. I WILL STILL BE DOING CHRISTMAS JOKES! JOKE OF THE DAY: Q: Whats the most important part of your body on Christmas? A: MistleTOE With more to come , Carlee from Green Grizzlies Good Morning, Grizzlies!
Happy December! Today, we are busy working on sponsor letters and envelopes in the classroom. Over our Thanksgiving break, we were supposed to collect addresses, phone numbers, and names of possible sponsors. If it's a family/ close friend, you were to write a friendly letter to them asking for potential sponsorship. If it's a business/ or you knew someone in a business, you could mail them a formal business letter asking for potential sponsorship. Thanks to whoever gave us the idea or who came up with the idea to collect sponsors over break. I think it was a great time to do it because we would be around a lot of people that we knew. A lot of our family have connections with other people who have certain jobs. It is important that we ask for sponsorship politely because if we didn't, they probably would not consider sponsoring us. We are in need of sponsorship! We need to provide for our car to have a better chance at winning our next race. It's important and not important to win at the same time. It would be nice to win and have a great reflection for our team and school. Although, our best scoring thing from our last race was our presentation. We scored the highest in the presentation margin. I think we have more essentials in contacting than anything else. We are still good at all the other things, like aerodynamics. Get ready for Christmas jokes! Christmas is just around the corner! With more to come, Carlee from Green Grizzlies |
