Today the team is practicing their parts for presentation. Christina and Sadie are finalizing the Blevins presentation so we can practice the presentation as a whole team. They are adding pictures and are making the presentation more professional. Pete and Aiden are working on the nosecone and adding the bolts to it. One of the bolts isn't working and we are going to have to drill it out. Corbin is fixing his part and is changing it to make more sense grammatically. Thomas and Corbin are working on the race presentation and are adding the new information to certain slides. Will A. and Sean are organizing the cart because we got new snacks. We got gum too which should bring in a lot of different customers who are avid gum chewers. We should be able to make a profit of around 30 dollars. The new snacks are different than what we have had before, but they are also more popular around the school. Ian is finding how much profit we will make from the new snacks.

Today Christina and Sadie are finalizing the Blevins presentation. The team is going to practice presenting the new presentation. The team is not doing the same slides we usually do, so we need to practice and get our new parts down. We have changed our sponsorship perks, so we are changing what is going to be on our presentation. We will be going to Blevins on March 4th, and we are going in search of a possible sponsor. We are very lucky to be able to present to Blevins. Christina is helping Corbin with his slide, and what the best way to explain it is. Will V, Josh, and Will A. are putting the drill bits on the nosecone to see if they fit. Our nosecone is slightly off from our car so we are coming up with ways to fix it. The new nosecone is heavier than our old one, so we need to see if we can make it any lighter.
Answer to yesterday’s joke: “you crack me up!” Inspiration of the Day: “Success is where preparation and opportunity meet.” -Bobby Unser Explanation: In Greenpower, the team works hard to do well in our races and presentations. We are lucky that there are many events near us where we can showcase our skills. We prepare for months before the race, where we will be judged. With more to come, Ella and Josh Today we had a team meeting about our plans for the coming weeks. We are going to an assisted living center to help with bingo. It is going to be a lot of fun, and we are going to help the community. Corbin is organizing the snack cart with Ian. Corbin is also taking the torn paper off of the cart, so it looks clean and nice. Will A. is making a list of snacks we want to get for the cart. We are thinking about adding gum because it is very popular at school. Aiden is counting the money and putting it into the excel sheet. Sadie and Christina are making the presentation we can present to Blevins when we go. Sean and Thomas are working on the normal presentation for the race. Our next race is in a month. The team needs to start our modifications, so we do not run out of time before the race.
Joke of the Day: What did the ground say to the earthquake? With more to come, Ella and Josh Today the team is splitting up and working on different projects. Will V is seeing how much profit we could make if we sell gum. Gum is very popular at school, and we think we can sell it and make good profit. Christina and Sadie working on a presentation that we could present to Blevins. We need to decide what date we can go where all of the team will be there. It is hard coordinating the date because the team is so busy. Corbin, Sean, and Ella are making a tri-fold for a special event at school that will showing the rising seventh and eighth graders the electives we can choose. They are making a new tri-fold to replace the old one, and are adding new information. Josh, Will A., Will V., and Pete are working on their calling skills. They are trying to get new sponsors. Aiden and Ian were counting the money, so a deposit could be made.
Answer to yesterday’s riddle: the wind With more to come Ella and Josh Today the team got our new nosecone. It is similar to our older nosecone. We had a parable, but we changed it because the air would get caught in the tire spokes. Will V. is cleaning up the nosecone and getting all the rough edges out of it. Sadie, Christina, and Will A. are putting the stickers on the other helmets. The stickers add flair to our helmets and make them look more customized. Christina and Sadie need to have a steady hand so the stickers are aligned and are centered. Thomas and Corbin are fixing the presentation and adding pictures of the nosecone and the helmet stickers. Sean and Corbin are looking up places we could volunteer at for Earth Day. We want to go "green" and give back to the community on Earth Day. Will A. and Josh are working on Solid Edge to create the new steering wheel design. Riddle of the Day: I pass before the sun, yet I make no shadow. What am I? With more to come, Ella and Josh Pete showing off our new nosecone.
Today Sadie and Thomas are updating the presentation. We just got new pictures so they are changing some of the old pictures with the new ones. Pete is going around asking the teachers for nickels because we are close to being able to make a new roll. Josh and Aiden are counting the money while Ian is adding it to the spreadsheet. Christina and Sadie are sending the email that they have been working on. The email is to show our ideas about changing the presentation. We want to do a live presentation instead of a video presentation. Will V. and Will A. are practicing making a successful phone call so they know what to say. Will A. is calling a nursing home in hopes that we will be able to volunteer. Sadie is composing an email to send to another nursing home. It is possible that we will volunteer at two different nursing homes which is okay because we will be able to volunteer and help the community more.
Inspiration of the Day: “It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all, in which case you have failed by default.” -J. K. Rowling Explanation: Without our failures, we never would have succeeded. The team has had our share of defeats, but because of those we have grown and achieved so much. With more to come, Ella and Josh Today Will A. is fixing the website and adding in new sponsors. He is also taking off certain items from our wish list. The site needs be updated because many things have happened since the last time we checked it. Pete is going through each of the parts of the website and has proofread and checked for errors. Aiden and Ian got the snack cart and are restocking it. Aiden and Ian are finding local nursing homes that we could call and ask about volunteering. Sean and Josh are looking at animal shelters. They are compiling a list of possible places that we could volunteer at. The list will have the phone numbers, so that someone can call them and then cross it off the list. Christina, Sadie, and Corbin are fixing the presentation and is updating the fundraising slide. They are taking off the snack cart from future fundraising ideas to current fundraisers. They are also changing the community slide.
Answer to yesterday’s riddle: a candle and a box of matches. He lit the candle with the matches, and the light filled the room. Joke of the Day: I’ll do algebra, I’ll do trig, and I’ll even do statistics, but graphing is where I draw the line. With more to come, Ella and Josh Today Christina and Sadie are composing the email to send to Mr. Sparks with the alternative suggestions for presentation. Ian informed the team that we have made 650 dollars’ worth of profit from the snack cart. Thomas, Will A, and Pete got the snack cart and restocked it with our more popular items. With the profit, we have could buy many of the items on our wish list. Pete, Aiden, and Josh are learning how to make a proper phone call to another business. They need to call animal shelters, nursing homes, and Blevins. They are going to ask about volunteering at the nursing homes and animal shelters. They are going to call Blevins to ask about the hubs and new tires. Sean and Thomas are fixing the presentation and adding picture to our community slide. Will V is calling the nursing home, and is going to ask about volunteer dates.
Riddle of the Day: An old man wanted to leave all of his money to one of his three sons, but he didn’t know which one he should give it to. He gave each of them a few coins and told them to buy something that would be able to fill the room. The second bought some sticks, but they still did not fill the room. The third man bought two things that filled the room, so he obtained his father’s fortune. What were the two things that the man bought? With more to come, Ella and Josh Today Pete is making phone calls to nursing homes in the area to see if we could volunteer there. Christina, Sadie, and Corbin are creating a list of alternative ideas for presentation. They original list was lost, so they are making a new list. They will compose an email to send to Mr. Sparks with our suggestions, to see if they could be used. Aiden is counting the money from yesterday’s selling. Because Ian is gone, we can’t update the spreadsheet. Will A restocked and organized the snack cart. Thomas is taking over josh’s job for the day because he is absent. Will is updating the website with the pictures that we took yesterday. Yesterday we went around the school and cleaned up and picked up trash. The team split up, and six of us went outside while the other six stayed inside. The team met up and then went to clean up the track. We were able to collect a lot of trash and made the school cleaner. This was a great way for the team to help out the school.

The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” -Thomas Edison Explanation: The team is constantly faced with challenges during races and when we are working. We never give up when we are stuck, and we keep working and trying to figure out each issue. |
