Today we are finishing our presentations that we started earlier this week. Each group has to make a PowerPoint presentation with each of our assigned components to the project. We had to do a lot or research to make this as in-depth as possible. Two groups have finished their projects already while the other two still are working. We had to change motor efficiency to mechanical efficiency because another team was already doing it. The groups that are done are working on the car’s wheel alignment. It takes team work when working on alignment. One person has to hold the brakes while the others work on the alignment itself.
Riddle of the Day: A man is pushing his car along the road when he comes to hotel. He shouts, "I'm bankrupt!" Why? With more to come, Ella and Josh

Today we are continuing driver qualifications because yesterday’s incident caused a delay. We still have to time Sadie and Will A. Sadie had to start again because the timer quit. The wind kept changing their times and delayed them. The second lap is the time that counts the most, and Pete explained to the new possible drivers how to drive the best way. After we finish qualifying for driver we are going to finish qualifying for pushers. Everyone who was trying out for pusher is going to have to try again because we never finished qualifying.
Inspiration of the Day: "A pessimist sees the difficulty in every oppportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." - Winston Churchill Explanation: Our team has to look on the bright side each day no matter what. Even if the wind does not agree with us, or our volt meter gives out. We need to try and be as determined to accomplish our goals no matter what and no matter how hard it becomes. With more to come, Ella Today we are having driver qualifications. Pete, Sadie, Josh, Will A, and Sean. Pete is the only experienced driver, but the new members are doing really well. The drivers had to go around the track 3 times. The first lap is practice while the second and third lap were timed. We had some difficulties with the car while Pete was driving. The volt meter started to smoke and we had to stop to fix it. Christina’s father said to cut the wire to the volt meter. We have also had issues with the brake light. The light would be on when the brakes were not. We are restarting the qualifications now that we fixed some of the issues and Pete is restarting as well.
Answer to yesterday’s riddle: a matchstick With more to come, Ella Today we are straightening up the shop because we have people coming tomorrow to film a commercial. The commercial is for the upcoming race on November 12. We need the shop clean, so are work area looks nice for the commercial. The team is working on throwing away all trash and organizing all our materials. Sean, Ian, and Will V. are working on making sure our wheel alignment is perfect so it will not mess it up when driving tomorrow. We have to put on all of the removable pieces to the car. Sadie, Christina, Will A. helped fold up banners and signs. Josh is helping Pete cut Velcro. He needs to keep his cuts straight and his hand steady so he doesn’t cut jagged.
Riddle of the Day: tear one off and scratch my head what was red is black instead? With more to come, Ella and Josh Today we are working on making PowerPoints on aerodynamic efficiency, motor efficiency, rolling efficiency, speed controllers, mechanical drive train efficiency, controller efficiency, and current limiting. We have to in our small groups, find out what each thing is and how it relates to our Greenpower car. Thomas, Will A. and I are working on motor efficiency and current limiting. The other teams are working on the rest, and are making their own PowerPoints that will be presented to the other team members on Wednesday. Last Friday, we took pictures of each of the different teams that we will be using for the presentation. We had Public Relations, Build, and the team leaders.
Answer to Friday’s joke: Ruler Inspiration of the Day: “I simply do not think that yelling, swearing, threatening or belittling will get you to the place you want to be faster than kindness, understanding, patience and a little willingness to compromise.”-Rachel Nichols Explanation: Our team goes through a lot together. We have and need to keep a “cool head” when we struggle otherwise we would never get through the day. We cannot argue with other team members because our ream would collapse on itself and nothing would ever get done. With more to come, Ella Today we are determining who are new pushers are. We have four who are trying out; Josh, Ian, Thomas, and Aiden. Will is marking who has the farthest push with tape and a sharpie. Sean helped push the car back to the starting point. All of the people who tried out did really well. Our team had to help move the car to get to a place where the possible pushers could practice. Yesterday there was no blog because we had a team meeting where we talked about our race day plans and everything we needed to know. We also got to find out what the Jemison track looks like, and we got to find out where pit is located. We need to work on our gear ratios, and we found someone who will help change them.
Joke of the Day: What’s the king of a classroom? With more to come, Ella and Josh Today we had a group meeting. We compiled a list of all of our race day questions that we need answered. We had a lot of good questions that we hope will be answered. Even though Race Day is far away, we would like to know everything we can so it doesn’t pile up on us in the long run. Thomas got eighty-seven dollars in donations this past weekend for our team which we are really grateful for and will put to good use. Sadie, Pete, and Aiden are cutting out the side panels. We had a discussion on if we want to add a panel on the back. Corbin, Christina, and Ian are working on presentation and scripts for each person who will be presenting. Thomas and Will V. are working on our pit jobs and positions for race day. Sean and Will A. are working on finding sponsorships for the team and emailing them.
Riddle of the Day: What lives in a corner, but travels around the world? With more to come, Ella and Josh Today Will V, Corbin, and Ian are working with Solid Edge to create a 3D model of the nose cone. They are having some slight complications with the computers that have Solid Edge on them. Sadie, Pete, and Aiden are making a prototype of the side covers. They are tracing it and making a prototype first, so they do not mess up and cut out the wrong measurements on the actual side covers. Christina and Thomas are working together to finish our race day presentation. Josh is working on finding an inspirational quote and relating it to our Greenpower team. Sean and Will A are working on sponsorships for this year. Everyone who is not working or finished their jobs for the day is helping Christina with the presentation. Will is making a list of all our questions that we have about race day.
Answer to Friday’s Joke: A library Inspiration of the day: “The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. I think you can accomplish anything if you’re willing to pay the price.”- Vince Lombardi Explanation: Our team works hard every day so we can be successful. We are each determined to win this year’s races and go to Indy. We know that success comes at a price and our team is ready to pay it by working hard and not giving up even when it gets hard on us. With more to come, Ella and Josh Today we are working on sponsorships, our new nose cone, and our race presentation. Will A. and Sean are working on sponsorships for this year. Ian and Will V. are working on creating the nose cone using our new 3D modeling program, Solid Edge. This is the first time they have used Solid Edge, so they are experimenting with the new software. Christina and Thomas are working on the race presentation for the 'presentation' portion of the race. Pete, Aiden, and Sadie are working on a side cover prototype to go on the back of the car, near the tail cone and wheels.
Answer to yesterday’s riddle: The letter w Joke of the day: what building has the most stories in the world? With more to come, Josh Today we are back in the shop after being in the classroom for the past two days. While we were in the classroom, we worked on writing a cover letter and resume. We had to create the cover letter and resume that would help us get an internship for an engineering company. Today build team is working on alignment and building the back flap. Christina and Thomas are working on the presentation about us, our car, and what we are doing. Will is working on the website and is updating the sponsors. We had a team discussion on what color we should tape a piece of the back flap, and we officially put the back flap on the car. Everyone had to help move the car onto to the sawhorses. Josh made a word document with all jokes, riddles, and inspirational quotes that we will use in future blogposts. Will V. is working on dimensions to cover more area of the car on the side.
