Good Morning, Grizzlies! Today is Tuesday, February 2nd, 2016. We are in the classroom today. We are presenting again and discussing questions that the judges may or may not ask after our presentation. It's highly important we practice potential question that they judges may ask because we want to have answers for them and not just stand there. We want to be prepared for them! We want to have a good grade on our presentation. I think preparing for the questions is a great idea and we should practice it a lot more. I can't wait for us to race and present. We are going to do a great job. We have so much time to prepare and we all almost have our parts down too. Therefore, the more we practice, the more we will be prepared. If you have not been reading the blog update lately, we have an event coming up! We have a Spirit Night coming up! The date is Tuesday, March 1st , 2016. The time is 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM. The event is in 4 weeks, therefore, you have a lot of time to prepare for the date and clear your schedule. I believe that we will have a lot of people this time because their really isn't any school sports going on, other than track. Let's hope we get a lot of people to support our school and Greenpower team! We would highly appreciate it! Due to it being a important month, I will be writing a little bit about a person for Black History Month. Yesterday, I wrote a little about Langston Hughes and put a quote on there from him. Today, I am going to be talking about George Washington Carver. George Washington Carver was known for being an African- American scientist and inventor . He is best known for the use of the peanut in many of his inventions. Carver devised over 100 products using one of these crops, the peanut, including dyes, plastics and gasoline. From his work at Tuskegee, Carver developed approximately 300 products made from peanuts; these included: flour, paste, insulation, paper, wall board, wood stains, soap, shaving cream and skin lotion. He experimented with medicines made from peanuts, which included antiseptics, laxatives and a treatment for goiter. We still use one of the inventions for today, peanut butter! Joke of the Day: A woman was taking a nap on Valentine’s Day afternoon. After she awoke, she told her husband, “I just dreamed that you gave me a gorgeous and expensive diamond necklace for Valentine’s Day! What do you think it means?” “You’ll know tonight,” he said. That evening, her husband came home with a small package for her. Thrilled, she opened it and found a book titled “The Meaning of Dreams.” With more to come, Carlee from Green Grizzlies "Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses."- George Washington Carver
